Dear Parents,

Thank you all for your support in making the Halloween party a success.  The children looked wonderful in their costumes.

The month of November marks the beginning of the "Holiday Season".  This month our feature color is Brown.

We have several dates that you must mark on your calender.  Tuesday, November 10th is our Picture Day.  This is a Christmas Portrait Photo.  Make sure that your child is dressed appropriatly.  Please have your child in school by 8:30am.

Friday, November 11th is the feast of St. Martin.  In keeping with the German tradition of celebrating this feast, we will be visited by St. Martin who will ride on a white horse into the School playground.  He will distribute the traditional "Weckmann" to the children.

(Preschool children will need a light for their lanterns)

The feast of St. Martin is celebrated in the area with a parade in the early evening.  Children, holding a variety of handmade lanters, parade down the streets following St. Martin who rides a white horse and is dressed in the uniform of a Roman Soldier.  Everyone sings at the end of the ride.  A bonfire is lit and everyone gathers around to warm up and have a good time.

Our next special event is on Wednesday, November 23rd.  We will be celebrating a typical         " American style Thanksgiving" by preparing a traditional Thanksgiving Lunchon of turkey with all the trimmings.  Mrs. Klein will prepare the meal for all the children to enjoy.  Please do not pack a lunch for your child on that day.

The school will be closed on Thursday and Friday, November 24th and 25th for the Thanksgiving holidays.

SPECIAL THANKSGIVING NOTICE

As you know this month the children will be learning about the American feast of thanksgiving.  This holiday is all about giving and being thankful for what we have.  The children will be learning about the Pilgrims and the American Indians; their way of life and their different cultures.

OPEN HOUSE

Thank you for your participation at the Parents Evening.  The teachers and I enjoyed meeting with all of you.
